We thought we’d be cool as cucumbers spending a leisurely day at Kusadasi. Little did we know it was going to be as hot as Hades and humid – close to 40 degrees! We trekked down to the port, and in a desperate attempt to beat the heat, we ordered the most colossal beers we could find. We plopped ourselves inside a pub with windows wide open, facing the beach, where people were bobbing up and down in the clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea.

A bird in the hand is worth…

We climbed the hill back to the hotel. It took us about an hour to cool down—faces as red as beetroots. We were to learn from an ABC report that we were enjoying a 130-year heat wave event!
